The Acquisition Process

The aircraft market is global, and a busy one at that! When you’re looking to buy your first (or next) aircraft, it’s important to have a team dedicated to getting you into the right airplane and off on your next adventure.

Whether you’re looking for a weekend VFR fun machine or a serious business jet, put RidgeAire’s expertise to work for you!

1) Mission Requirements

Buying an airplane is a big decision and we want to help you make the right one.

We start by understanding your needs and objectives for this purchase. We want to know how you plan on using the airplane, how many people you think will regularly fly in it, and how far you need to go.

With the requirements in hand, we’ll be ready to make recommendations.

2) Aircraft Identification

With your requirements defined, we’ll start searching for the right airplane for you.

There are dozens of models, and even more variants, even just between model years.

Planes are for sale all over the world, and over the years we’ve imported and exported hundreds of aircraft.

We walk you through the subtle nuances between aircraft, helping to find the airplane that meets your requirements and your budget.

No matter where in the world it’s sitting today, when we find the right aircraft, we can get it here for you.

3) Aircraft Inspection

Once we’ve identified the airplane that you’re interested in, we travel to wherever it is for an in-person inspection.

We review the logbooks and conduct a physical inspection of the aircraft.

As pilots ourselves, we know what to look for. We know the signs of larger problems and the amount of work an airplane may need. If the aircraft passes our initial inspection, we’re ready to make an offer.

When a seller accepts our offer and we have a contract in hand, we schedule a pre-purchase inspection with a trusted mechanic.

They’ll do a thorough review of the aircraft and its logbooks, advising on any discrepancies.

No plane is perfect, but we’ll make sure that you’re buying a quality product.

Most airplanes are sold “as-is, where-is,” so any repairs or price concessions are negotiated as a part of this inspection process.

We can also reach out to trusted vendors to get quotes on items and help get them taken care of for you after closing.

We’ll assist you in opening escrow, getting all necessary documents to the escrow agent on time, and communicating with the seller over any issues.

Once the transaction is closed and the airplane is yours, we’ll coordinate delivery and send you on your next adventure.

Buying an airplane is a complex transaction and a process that takes time to complete.

Put RidgeAire in your corner and we’ll help you add your next airplane to your hanger.
